Farmers’ markets are very popular in the 1750s. All kinds of produce, meat and baked goods are sold daily. The big difference between farmers’ markets of the 1750s and farmers’ markets of today relate to dogs. Dogs are entitled to all kinds of scraps at the farmers’ market in 1750; but there are no vendors that market directly to Dogs. Not so in 2023. Richard and I visit Besty‘s Barkery every Saturday that he doesn’t have a Jethro drag me to North Carolina. I am their most favorite customer, whether I am Colonial Duchess, Daisy Mae Duchess or Eagle Dog. My favorite is their daffodubs. Say hello to Christine and Bethany when you’re there. My parents took off an errand to Richmond and left me at home this a.m., so no Farmer’s Market! I’m insisting they show me the Barkery next weekend! It must be great or I know you wouldn’t recommend it so highly. And as far as Influencers go, you ARE my go to. My mom says I have a long way to go before I match your behavior and I say, “Mom, I’m trying, I’m trying” and she says “good girl” – which she says a lot and so much I doubt her sincerity sometimes!

Daffodubs sound considerably more civilized than jerky. That Saturday food fest might also be an enjoyable experience for our mysterious pal McDuff.
