whether I prefer the 1760’s or 2023. While I really like air conditioning on a very hot day, there is a huge difference which makes the decision a “no brainer”. In Colonial Williamsburg in the 1760’s, we had the run of the streets. We went where we wanted – when we wanted. And we did not suffer the embarrassment of having a human standing there, watching us do our – you know- thing, and clean up after us. With all of the horses in the streets, dog poo was no big deal. In fact, recently I have been feeling I need a cause. And I think this post has given me one. I believe we should Ban Leashes. We did not have them in the 1700’s and we don’t need them now. Say it with me “Ban Leashes- Ban Leashes . . . . . .

Whoa Duchess
In the 1700s there was no protection from the wily and diseased gray fox! Once bitten might well have been the bitter end. The leash that is tethered to a canine protector might offer more than the perk of poo privacy! Also , aside from lux of todays A/C, you are spared gags from the stench of the honey buckets of yore. Be happy!

Duchess,
While I think of the leash as a means of keeping you safe, another way to look at it and one that may mean more to you is that at the other end of that leash is your best friend. He may think he is controlling you, but maybe you are actually controlling him (and keeping him safe). After all, don’t you lead him to the Inn’s tennis courts, and Lowes, and everywhere else that you get a treat? I think you are actually the one in charge. Just let him go on thinking he is and your life will continue to be pretty darn good.
